Unraveling Quezon
Overnight with Hands on Experience for HRM
(Sariaya-Tayabas-Lukban-Tiaong)

First stop is in Sariaya, Quezon where one will get to see one of the many ancestral houses in this quaint town. During the Spanish period, Sariaya was home to most of the provinces rich and landed families. The ancestral home is an old house reminiscent of the Art Deco period in Philippine architecture. It is in this ambiance that lunch will be served. After lunch, the group is brought to Tayabas, the center for finance and commerce of the province. Here, the group will be divided into teams to experience, hands-on, country club operations which cover front office, housekeeping, F&B as well as other departments that make up the entire operations. The participating students will be divided into groups and each group assigned will service their own classmates like checking in and checking out the participants for those assigned in Front Office operations. preparing the rooms of the participants for those assigned in Housekeeping. Those assigned in the F&B will fix the venue for the occasion and will handle the servicing during dinner time.

In the evening, the group will take part in a century-old welcome ritual of the people of Quezon - “Tagayan”. But there is more to the ritual than just drinking “lambanog”. The “Tagayan” ritual exemplifies the close kinship and community relations among Filipinos. On the second day, the group is introduced to the tricks of the trade in managing and marketing a country club hotel through a lecture designed to broaden the students learning in hotel management. Their free time will be handled by another group of students who are assigned in the facilities and organized games and teambuilding activities where the other participants will join. This will be held in the grounds of the resort. From Tayabas, the group proceeds to Lucban for lunch followed by a demonstration on how to make local delicacies such as the colorful “kiping” and Lucban “longganisa”. “Kiping” is a local snack that also serves as the main attraction during the “Pahiyas” festival doubling as decoration. Lucban “longganisa” is a local sausage made of pork and colored with “achuete” giving it its distinct flavor. The tour ends at Ugu Bigyan’s pottery garden where another food demonstration on “kulawo” will surely fire up the imagination of culinary students. The pottery garden produces stoneware ideal for restaurants and other food establishments, enhancing the dining experience with its finely crafted and designed plates, bowls and other dining implements
